Islington square, N1

Islington Square is a huge new development being built in North London, taking inspiration from the West End's Covent Garden. It is intended as a destination for people to eat, shop and sleep in the capital.

The site, located in the heart of Islington, currently hidden behind the bustle of Upper Street and surrounded by the residential conservation areas of Gibson and Milner Squares, was formerly the Post Office North London sorting office, consisting of four elaborately embellished classical Edwardian red brick buildings. It has a presence on Upper Street as a public Post Office in the baroque style. As part of this £400 m development existing structures will be retained and adapted to suit the new requirements.

PIERRA have been employed as the specialist masonry contractor to carry out the clean, repair and adaptation of the retained Edwardian facades along with the construction of new stone and brick facades with completion due late 2017.
