The Grade II* Roydon Hall is a fine old house which dates back to the reign of Henry VIII with grounds extending for around fourteen acres.
PIERRA were the preferred specialist contractor to carry out this large masonry package to ensure the building, which had been left derelict for many years, was restored back to its original splendor.
Many of the houses’ fine original and highly ornate chimney stacks had either been removed or were in a significant state of repair. The stacks were re-built with the incorporation of new hand-made bricks, where required, along with the installation of an entirely new chimney stack designed from retrieving details of the remaining base of the stack and remnants of profiled bricks stored within the grounds of the house.
Other work included the cleaning of the historic brick and stonework facades utilizing the sympathetic super-heated low pressure Doff system, extensive replacement of handmade facings and ornate bricks, the forming of new structural openings including the design, supply and fixing of new Bath stone dressings, stone indents and replacements along with the installation of a new Code 6 lead capping carefully dressed over the cornice of the original Kentish Rag stone porch entrance.
